[BEAUTY] A Little Beauty Haul

Hello lovelies! Happy February! I can’t believe we’ve already demolished a whole month of 2015, each day of January seemed to go slowly but really it zoomed by.. How was your January?

In the middle of January I decided to make a list of all the beauty items that I wanted. A lot of them are quite expensive/high end so that means I need to save up a bit, which I don’t mind. I have, however, managed to pick up a couple of items on my wishlist and so I thought I would share what I got with you. By I will have done a lot of shopping because I’m saving up until then, so expect my next haul to be around that time! Anyway, enough rambling, let’s get on with the haul…

Nanshy kindly sent me their beauty blender/sponge, and I’m absolutely obsessed with it. I definitely think using the right application can make your make up look so much better; using this sponge means that I actually enjoy using foundation! It’s only £5.95, so it’s definitely worth trying if you want a great yet affordable beauty blender.

From Boots, I picked up this new mascara from Maybelline. It’s the Lash Sensational mascara which is a new release so therefore the price was only £5.99. Personally I think the packaging is much nicer than other mascaras by Maybelline, even though it’s the same price. I can’t wait to try this out because I needed a new mascara!

Boots also very kindly sent me this ‘Nude Magique BB’ blusher from L’oreal, to update my make up bag for the New Year! I’ve seen this in store before – it’s a clear gel/mousse that turns pink once it touches your skin. I’m not sure about the consistency of this product but I am excited to play around with it, especially for the Summer time.

In Debenhams they have an offer on in which you can trade in your old cleanser for a new Clinique one! So obviously I bounced on the offer, replacing a yucky Simple one with the Clinique Foaming Facial Wash. This will be perfect for weekends away, 2 bits of skincare in one bottle!

Sticking along the lines of skincare, Zuzka sent me this Rose Petal Cleansing Milk. This is really lovely to use on a day where I want to feel well and truly pampered. It’s natural and organic and quite a feel good product. Looking at the other products they stock definitely tempts me to buy some more skincare!

The last two products are from my first order on feelunique! I was super excited ordering this and I found these two items that I badly wanted in the sale too. It’s also free delivery and they popped a free tea bag from teapigs in my order, so I know I will be buying more products from this site. I chose the Macadamia Nourishing Leave-In Cream which is the only thing that seems to shape my berserk curls! I tried a sample of it before and loved it, plus I couldn’t resist when this tube was under £4.

I’ve seen this highlighter been constantly talked about in the blogger’s world, and it’s been on my wishlist for a long time. Seeing it for £14 made me crave in and buy it because it’s the cheapest I’ve seen it and with Spring quickly approaching I thought it was only appropriate to buy it! The packaging is gorgeous and the product itself is so gorgeous and buttery.

Last but not least, I had to buy Tanya’s book! It looks great and it’s filled with happiness tricks, baking recipes, beauty tips and more. It’s right up my street and on the day of release my mum managed to find one in Tesco for £7!! I’m so excited to read this and I’m so proud of Tanya, I’ve been watching her for 3 years now so I couldn’t not pick it up!

That’s everything I have bought lately! Hopefully this will stop my cravings until March/April where I will splurge out my money…

What have you bought this month? Do you own any of these products?

[BEAUTY] The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter Review

Hello lovelies! I’m so relieved right now and just feeling a bit better, I’m excited for this week now even though not much is planned at all, which is always good 🙂 I hope you’re all well – have you got any exciting plans this week?

Firstly I want to say a thank you to all the lovely feedback on my Sultry make up tutorial, you all seem to want more posts featuring my face, so I guess I’ll have to work on that.. (catch up here.) So today I’ve got a review post. I know this blog has really been beauty based lately, and I love that but hopefully soon I’ll get in some lifestyle or fashion posts – I haven’t done an OOTD in what feels like forever! What do you prefer my blog to be based on?

For Christmas I received this Cleansing butter that I was lusting for, after reading brilliant reviews and the concept reminding so much of higher end products, like the Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm. I was delighted to see this and I thought I ought to do a review on it..

The Cleansing butter is Camomile scented, which is very faint but nevertheless quite relaxing. Scented products are a No No when it comes to skincare, but then unscented products quite frankly stink, so this is a great in-between! The butter is a solid balm consistency but only takes a rub between your fingertips to create an oil/butter. From here, I spread the butter all over my palms and melt away my make up. Using massaging motions the oil dissolves the make up and leaves a yucky residue on the surface of your skin, which you then rinse off with water or a flannel. You are left which soft, buttery (see what I did there) skin that feels deeply cleansed and just damn clean.

I use this on the days where I have energy to keep my eyes open to do skincare (other days I just use Micellar Water and a cotton pad). Every time I do use it, my skin looks and feel lovely. At £12, it’s worth a try if you want something more for skincare. Plus, The Body Shop always have deals on so I’m sure you can get a couple bucks off if you are considering purchasing it.

Rating : 4/5 – I hate that I have to rinse it off, I’d much rather use a cotton pad because I’m so lazy! Also, I can imagine if you live in a hot country this would not last long…

Have you tried this product? What does your skincare routine consist of?

[BEAUTY] Subtle & Sultry Makeup Tutorial

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday 🙂 This week has been a long one, but I’ve got an even more exhausting one ahead of me… How’s your week been?

Today I’m showing you a subtle, glowy, dewy make up look/tutorial inspired by the Victoria’s Secret Angels and the fast approaching season of Spring. December was filled with bold red lips and piles of glitter, and now I felt like it was time to take it down a notch. Lately I’ve been wearing this look for every occasion. It adds a little healthy glow back into your face (with a perfect flawless base) and gives your eyes a little twinkle.

I must admit I am a bit hesitant with showing my face but you can’t do a make up tutorial without a selfie, am I right? 😉 Anyway, onto the tutorial!

IMG_2164IMG_21621. Base. I used the Mac Studio Fix Foundation which is really lightweight and dewy. It’s probably the best foundation I’ve tried – I’m not a big fan of foundation so I am super impressed with this and will hopefully buy the full size soon. I dampened the Nanshy 4-in-1 Marvel Makeup Sponge* and used the flat pointed bit to apply and blend it into my face. This way your foundation looks much more subtle and natural looking – great for people who don’t want to look and feel like they are caked in make up!

2. Cheeks. First I took some Cream Blusher by Maybelline and swept this onto the apples of my cheeks. Using a tapered fluffy brush I applied Contour into the hollows of my cheeks and temples. The key here is blending – you want to look like you’re naturally bronzed. Using my fingers I swept a little bit of the Highlight from the Sleek Contour Kit onto my cheekbones and on the bridge of my nose.

3. Eyes. Using a Champagne Cream Eyeshadow over my eyelid, I blended and set that in place with a shimmery light Gold Eyeshadow from the Hard Day Palette by Makeup Revolution. Then I curled my lashes and applied a good coating of the L’oreal So Couture Mascara, ensuring that I wiggled the brush to get natural fluttery looking lashes.

4. Lips. I picked out a random lip colour (this one happened to be MUA’s Lipstick in Nectar) and blotted it onto my lips, using a blending brush to buff it in, which creates a sort of just bitten look.

The Final Look:

I love how glowy it looks! The camera was so stubborn and no matter where I went the lighting would not help to show how lovely this look is. It’s a perfect way to slip in something Spring(ish) even though it’s still January…

What do you guys think of this look? Yay or Nay? More Makeup Tutorials or should I stick to the usual stuff?

Thanks for reading,

P.S. I’m feeling so cold lately. I found this comfy women’s gilet from Woolovers in Nude, and it’s on sale too. I think it’d look great under big coats and long knee high boots, but I’m not sure if it’s very me or not. Opinions please? How do you layer your clothes?

Hello my lovelies! Happy Tuesday 🙂

This post got messed up and deleted, it was supposed to go up on Sunday but I don’t know what happened! Anyway, I’ve planned out lots of exciting posts and I’m collaborating with a few brands so this blog is definitely going to be busy for the upcoming months. If you have any blog post requests/reviews or any kind of post that you’d like me to do then definitely leave it in the comments and I will try and squeeze it in 🙂

The post today is all about a challenge that I made up and have been doing for the past 20 days. So you know how everyone does the whole cliche ‘New Year, New Me’ thing? And most people decide that this year is the year to loose weight and get fit? Well I’m no exception there. I decided that after eating so much crap and chocolate and sugary stuff over the holidays that as soon as the New Year begun I would detox myself from chocolate for 21 days. 21 days is the time it takes to get into a habit/routine of something, so I decided if I make little healthy changes to my lifestyle each 21 days I would be more motivated to continue like this and I can actually achieve my 2015 wish.

Now you’re probably wondering “Kavi, why on earth would you go without chocolate for 21 days?! Are you feeling okay?”. Well to answer your question yes I am feeling fine, thank you, and I decided that because I eat chocolate everyday without a doubt, 21 days without it would be a real challenge.

And I’m not lying, 20 days down it’s been so hard to not reach for a spoon to scoop out that perfect tub of Nutella, just waiting for me in my room. Not having a Nutella Chai Latte everyday is killing me, not to mention when people offer me cake or something with chocolate in. You know who you are 😉

So yes, it’s been very hard but I have to say I’ve enjoyed it. The cravings I have had have been tough to conquer, but those caramel cookies sorted that out… I have noticed that my skin is a lot clearer and spot free, my tummy feels less bloated and I can notice that I definitely have lost some weight! I’m not aiming to loose weight by the way, I just want to start living a healthy lifestyle and have a happy body.

This challenge is coming to end, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be starting a new one! The next challenge is to workout for 21 days and it starts on the 22nd of January, so you are welcome to join me.

Also, the other day I was sent this Shake from Slendertoxtea* and it’s a 14 day detox Meal Replacement Drink. Now I’m not going to replace any meals with it because food is just too precious and I don’t think my body can handle it. But I will be trying it out and hopefully I will enjoy using it too to detoxify! Have you tried it/detox drinks before?

What do you think about me doing 21 days without chocolate? Do you think you could manage it?

Thanks for reading,

Hello lovelies! I hope you’re all well 🙂

I feel like I haven’t done a review in ages, but that’s purely because I like to properly try out products for a while before sharing my thoughts, otherwise my writing tends to be based around what other bloggers say – there’s no point in that is there?! Anyway, I have been trying out a lot of the products that I got in December or for Christmas and replacing them with my usual staples, so I thought I would start reviewing them. Today I have the COLAB Dry Shampoo in the scent ‘New York’, by Ruth Crilly from amodelrecommends.

Usually, I stick with the cult of Batiste, but when I went to a Blogger Meal I was delighted to find this newly hyped about product in my goody bag! It’s a small little thing, but damn does it have power. The scent is fabulous, super fruity and refreshing – it honestly feels like I’m spritzing perfume into my hair! Every time I swish it and it flops into my face I feel like a L’oreal model and my hair just smells divine. Unlike Batiste, the COLAB dry shampoo doesn’t actually leave any white residue in your hair, so no signs of fake ageing here ladies! As for cleaning my hair, it does okay because of the scent but if I’m honest with you I don’t really feel like it absorbs the oil, which sucks because otherwise this product gets a solid 10/10 for me… Ooh I forgot to mention the packaging! It’s much more attractive then Batiste and looks like something less tacky and childish, if that makes sense.

Even though the dry shampoo isn’t so absorbing, I’m intrigued as to what the other kinds will smell like and maybe they will be more absorbing (there are 5 scents). At £3.49, it’s not going to harm my purse so next time I pop into Boots I’ll make sure to sneak the others in my basket!

Pick it up here.

Have you tried the COLAB Dry Shampoo? What are your thoughts on dry shampoo – yay or nay?

[FASHION] 5 Things I’ve Purchased This Month

Hello lovelies! I can’t believe it’s Sunday already – why does the week go so slowly and the weekend just flies by?! I hope you’re all well anyhow 🙂

So with great feedback on my last ‘5 Things’ post, which you can check out here, I decided that this is a series I want to be doing. I need to decide how regular it is going to be, maybe once every two weeks?

We all know that the shops have some kind of deal or sale on after Christmas, and after some searching around I found a few pieces in the sale and a couple other things. So I present to you a 5 piece haul, from Zara, Primark and Boots!

Primark is always worth a visit, sale or no sale. They are pretty cheap but have some good stuff, so I was delighted with these two items. I found this gorgeous oversized cardigan that is so so soft and cosy, I have literally been begging people to feel it. I love these granny cardigans because I can just chuck them over any outfit and I’m good to go. Pretty sure I will be living in this for the whole, including summer. This was £12.

I also found this cool turtle neck cropped top. I got in a huge size so therefore it isn’t tight at all, just looks like a normal top. It’s got this weird yet funky print on which I can’t find a word to describe, but hopefully the picture will do it for you. It was only £6, so obviously that’s a massive plus.

Onto Zara! I found that Zara sales are absolutely brilliant, everything is so cheap and I’m pretty sure my whole family found something in here. I don’t usually shop in Zara, but boy do I wish I had the money to. The quality is amazing, and this Slogan Tee and Flannel are no exceptions. The black T-Shirt is humongous, and it says ‘Darling, I have it on vinyl’. Cos you know with my record player and all..? Yeah. It was £5.99 which I consider great, the same price as Primark or H&M!

The flannel is my final piece of clothing that I purchased. It is very, very big as you can tell, but I think it’d work great as a nightshirt, thrown over a T-Shirt or Vest, or tucked into high waisted jeans with a big bag and a messy bun. It looks like a man’s shirt, I know, but I’ve been searching for the perfect flannel shirt for ages and it looks like I’ve found it. It was again pretty reasonably priced, at £19.99.

The final item I purchased is a make up item. I’ve been eyeing up this Bourjois Lip Lacquer/ Rouge Edition thing for ages, so many people have loved them and I am of course another one of them. They are so buttery and soft, but last for ages – I still can’t get it off from yesterday!! This one is the shade ‘Peach Club’ which is a bright and vibrant coral kind of pink. I love wearing bold lips now, whereas before it was all about the eye make up. At £8.99, it’s worth a try and I’m sure you’ll find a colour that suits you.

So they are the 5 things I purchased in 2015 so far! Which of my items are your favourite? What have you picked up recently?

[LIFE] ‘In My Ideal World I…’ TAG

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing okay, I know this week is going to be hard for all of us what with going back to work/school/normal routines. However I have come to enlighten you with a blog post, and this one is going to be a tag that I actually made up myself! I think it’s really interesting and it would be great if lots of people answer it too, because the answers intrigue me. Basically, there are 10 statements relating to your ideal world that you fill in. Ideal, meaning dream. It’s confusing to explain, so I’m going to head right in with the tag!

In My Ideal World I’d…

Look Like – Blake Lively. Hey, don’t we all?! She looks stunning all the time, no matter what she’s wearing or hairstyle she’s sporting. She is just gorgeous. Even searching up ‘Blake Lively With No Make Up’ didn’t assure me that she doesn’t always look great.

Work For – Google! This answer was hard because I couldn’t pick out of all the many jobs in the world. But Google looks so fun to work out, and I want work to be fun! Plus, I’d find the whole idea of working behind a search engine pretty fascinating!

Shop At – Gucci. There’s something about this designer brand that makes them stand out, I think the cut of all the clothing is so unique, and they seem to nail all the trends. Plus, I’d love to just swish my Gucci shopping bag around…

Blog Like – Helen, thelovecatsinc. I don’t know how many times I go on about her blog but it never fails to impress me! Her photos are perfectly snapped and edited, her witty and minimalist writing style hooks us all and the girl is generally lovely. What’s not to love?

Buy Make Up From – NARS, Tom Ford, YSL and Dior. The make up from these brands are so luxurious, the packaging is beautiful and I feel like the quality of the products are constantly raved about. One day I will be able to afford make up from these brands!

Drink – Pina Colada or Caramel Frappes everyday. Quite the contrast but my oh my are these drinks good. Pina Colada just oozes summer and makes me so happy, while Caramel Frappes taste spectacular and give a burst of energy.

Live In – New York or California. I really want to live in a city, but as amazing New York is I know it’s tire me out a bit. That doesn’t stop me from wanting to live there! There’d be so much to eat… California would also be so fun to live in, the beaches, the palm trees and the cool vibes – I can only imagine how great it’d be!

Sing Like – Beyonce. Oh how we’d all kill for a voice like yonce’s. And her figure is also perfect. But for now, stick to mouthing and singing into your hairbrushes ladies..

Work Out Like – Kim Kardashian. I’ve been reading fitness blogs lately and the workouts Kim does are pretty awesome. I may even try them myself!

Dress Like – Vanessa Hudgens. Her style is simply perfection, it’s boho mixed with an edgy feminine twist. I swear there hasn’t been an outfit of hers that I don’t like! Also, can I just touch on how nice her hair is? I really want mine to look something along the line of it.

So guys, that’s all for this tag! I hope you guys liked it, I’ve always wanted to create my own tag and this seems to be the right one for me 🙂 I tag you all as always, please link me up if you do decide to write your own take on it! However, I also want to tag Sophie, Elish, Beth, Sarah, Jasmine, Tarika and Beth.

Thank you all for reading,

[LIFE] 5 Things // 2015 Resolutions you should all set

Hello lovelies! Welcome to the first post of 2015 on kavichick2000! I hope this year is brilliant for you all and will be your best year yet 🙂 When I was writing the title I actually put 2014, it’s definitely going to take me a while for 2015 to click into my brain. I’ve had such a lovely holiday, it’s been very relaxing and fun, and I’ve seen so many people – I don’t want it to end! But all good things come to an end eventually, just in time for better times to begin!

I wanted this post to come up earlier, but I’ve been busy and that’s okay I think. I’ve been spammed with resolution posts/ 2014 in review posts so I thought I’d share the positivity by writing a resolutions post. This is not entirely blog related, it’s more lifestyle, but I think they are worth people knowing about because they are good targets and it would be nice for everyone to do them. If you have done a post on your resolutions, link me up so I can see what you want to achieve too!

Also, before I start, I am thinking about starting a new series called ‘5 Things’. I know a couple people have done them before and I love reading them because they are so organised and helpful, so if you think I should start this series then let me know.

1. Get the body you want // You’re forever mind complaining that you don’t like your figure. So this year you’re going to shape up and tone your body, so no more excuses and complaining if you’re not bothered to put into the effort. Exercise and eating healthy makes you feel happier and stronger too, so really you’re winning! Doing 21 days without chocolate has definitely kicked off your healthy living attitude.

2. Act Clever, Be Clever // It’s said that if you act a certain way, you’ll eventually become it. Now I’m not dumb neither am I clever, but acting witty will help you out a lot and I’m sure you will enjoy being clever. It might sound like a silly target but I think this is something that I’d really like to become, I used to be so clever and I’d like to be that again.

3. Get off your phone // You spend way too long on your phone, and you know that! It’s not good for you and people can wait, it’s not a life/death situation if you don’t reply so stop making up excuses and spend more time enjoying life without technology when you can.

4. Think Happy Thoughts // This is something you need to do all the time. If you’re in a bad mood or situation, your obviously not going to be thinking straight or happily, so next time this happens take a deep breath and imagine a hugeee truck coming to run those thoughts over. Put on some happy things and try to find the light in the situation, negative thoughts are never good.

5. Smile More // Sounds easy but it can be hard. When your out and about, instead of being awkward and looking down all the time, look up and smile at people. It not only puts other people on a happy high, but it also makes you feel incredibly good and you know it. It can make both people feel confident and can actually, as simplistic as it sounds, make their day. All of that just by moving a facial muscle ay?! Try it.

I really enjoyed writing this post and I think it’s nice to share with you easy targets to make 2015 your best year yet. I hope you liked reading it and will try to do these things too 🙂 Also I really like this writing style, I feel like it’s more organised and professional but still a little chatty, can you notice a difference?

I hope you’ve all had a great holiday and here’s to a fab 2015!

[BEAUTY] HALL OF FAME 2014 // Beauty, Fashion, Blogs & Random

Hello my lovelies! This is the last day of 2014 and therefore the last post on kavichick2000 this year! This year has gone so quickly, but it has been such a good one for me and I think it’s safe to say it has been the best year of my life so far. How has your year been?

To conclude the year, I wanted to do a summary of my favourite things this year. I’ve decided to divide this post into four categories : Beauty, Fashion, Blogs and Random. For each of the topics I’ll talk about my favourite products/things this year. You’ll get the point when I start, so without further ado, onto the Hall Of Fame 2014!

Eyes – I decided that this Real Techniques Eyeshadow Brush is brilliant because I can use it for so many things, like blending, smudging, applying and creating a cut crease look. Plus, I picked this up at the start of the year for only £3 so it’s definitely worth the money! The Makeup Revolution ‘Hard Day’ Palette has smashed it out the court for me. It has so many different colours and I can use it for every occasion, and the £6 price tag makes it especially worth purchasing. I of course had to pick a mascara and the one (or two) I chose was L’oreal Volume Million Lashes ‘So Couture’ and Maybelline The Falsies. They both work a dream at keeping my eyelashes long, separated and voluminousness all day long.

Face – We all know that Kavi loves a good contour, so the Sleek Face Contour Kit does just the trick. I love this one so much but I can tell soon I’m going to hit pan! I love look healthy and flushed, so this Maybelline Bouncy Blush is right up my street. A creamy, peachy, dewy blush that makes me look sweet and innocent whatever the season 😉

Lips – Ever since I picked up this red lipstick I haven’t stopped talking about it. I love how the Collection lipstick in ‘Valentine’ makes me feel very feminine and confident. I need to try some more red lipsticks, I seem to be drawn to Bourjois’ Velvet lip stains but I would love some of your recommendations. I also have been loving EOS lipbalms this year, as have many other girls because the packaging is awesome. One of my favourites is the blue one called ‘Sweet Mint’.

Nails – You should’ve guessed it by now that Barry M has been by far the best nail polish brand for me this year. The majority of the nail polishes I own are from, and I don’t think there is one that I dislike! ‘Vintage Violet’ a deep and mysterious purple, ‘Blueberry’ a high shine gelly blue, and ‘Black’ have definitely been my favourite colours this year.

Fragrance – I am a lover of perfume, I have way too many in my collection and don’t stop buying more. This year, Alien (a musky scent), Glam A Lot (a sexy feminine scent) and Pure Seduction (a summery fruity scent) have been spritzed onto my clothes and body multiple times. They all smell brilliant and I wear them no matter what season/occasion.

Hair – If I’m honest with you, the only haircare product I haven’t stopped using this year is the Tangle Teezer. It simply is my lifesaver as I have such knotty, dry, frizzy and curly hair. No matter what your hair type, you need this wonder brush!

Brand – Makeup Revolution. I only have a few products from them but I am planning to go crazy and buys tons more! The packaging is fantastic, the quality of the products are nearly high end worthy and the price puts a smile on everyone’s face. Plus the people behind the brand are all so lovely, which makes the brand even better!

I don’t have too many fashion favourites, in fact they are just essentials that I think everyone needs. I love love love the Topshop jeans and always find myself wearing them, here I have the Leigh and the Kristen jeans. H&M do the best crop tops ever, great quality, great fit and a great price.

Shop – H&M. I’m sorry but I’m in love with this shop and my whole wardrobe is slowly being overtaken by this brand. The prices are so purse friendly but the quality is still top-notch, so you’re winning both ways!

I love and read so many blogs, I must follow over 1000 of them, so it was damn hard to pick my favourites. But this year, the one that always stands out to me is thelovecatsinc, written by Helen. Her photography is incredible, her theme is so simplistic and chic, she makes the best food and generally her posts are brilliant. Also, What Olivia Did is another firm favourite – her fashion posts are drool worthy and she always has the most unique post ideas!  Lastly, Beth from BeautyInBeta is always one of my favourite people. This girl is lovely, writes an amazing blog, comes up with brilliant ideas and has a crazy cat who pops up in all her videos. She’s so humble and genuinely kind it makes me smile, and I’m so lucky to have met her twice!

My favourite book series has to be hush, hush and I am Four. These series are brilliant and each book is consistently good, which is key in a series. LOL is an amazing movie and I want to watch it again and again! The plot is brilliant, and I love all the characters – you must go and see it if you haven’t already! Of course I’ve been loving watching Gossip Girl this year, it is so hooking and dramatic, I love it! Do you watch it? I have loved so many things and still do, but music wise Ed Sheeran and Arctic Monkeys are artists I’ve fallen head over heels for!

I have of course loved all of you, and am thankful for every single one of you who have read my little ramblings here on kavichick2000. I don’t think y’all know how grateful I am!

Here’s to another great year, I’ll see you in 2015!!

Thanks for reading,
